I QUIT APOLOGISING...

So hey guys and I know, I have been AWOL and like the post headline says, I am going to spare you guys the numerous apologies. I am taking a ten week course at The Fashion Academy, Abuja and we are in the seventh week. So my days are tied up and my nights well, I have home work and I need to sleep and my laptop has issues, I need a new one and I detest typing posts on my phone.  But I'll be a lot more dedicated to you guys.
The Fashion Academy is an amazing school and right now I'm taking the course with 14 amazing, smart, creative women. Follow The Fashion Academy  on Instagram @tfaabuja.

So now to the style part of the post. The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards was Sunday night and the red carpet was dominated by Zac Posen and Chain details, Cut outs and Off Shoulder sleeves.

Guiliana Rancic, Sarah Paulson, Sarah Hyland all rocked the off shoulder trend and then Taraji P. Henson, Lady Gaga and Amy Poehler rocked the Black dress trend as well as sheer and cut out details. Sofia Vegara killed it in Gold St John and that woman is the poster child for knowing her body and dressing it the right way.

The chain detail was rocked by Taraji, Claire Danes and the Chainmail and sheer trend was slayed by Kerry Washington, Cat Deely. The white trend was rocked by three winners Uzo Aduba, Viola Davis and Regina King who proved how big of a night it was for African American Women in Television. As wells as by Jane the Virgin Star, Gina Rodriguez.

What I Wear To Work

The sun has been hiding behind the clouds and trust me I'm not complaining, the heat is way reduced and the weather has been blissful.

I'm so excited about today's post and yes I teased the picture on Twitter and Instagram @gehnuywhine and @ohahanyohe respectively. There's this article series in the ASOS Magazine entitled What I Wear To Work featuring amazing young professionals and their extremely stylish work clothes, those articles inspired me to write this post. So lets get started,

Erm... I look out my window and look as Nigerian's make their way to work and yes I have seen some outrageous things but when I see professionals like when I visit the Bank, seriously its like a sea of BLACK, GREY and NAVY (sorry for the shouting capitals). Yes I know Black is my favourite colour and I love the different shades of Grey and Navy I'm a little iffy about, but really though why can't Work clothes be a little more fun and a lot more stylish.

I know I haven't told you guys yet that in the last couple of months I registered my business with the Corporate Affairs Commission and I had a meeting with a representative of amazing dress designer JOVANI and became a licensed retailer for JOVANI. Thus, Style by Ohaha my special events dress store was born. Style by Ohaha is a specialized shopping experience. email dresses@stylebyohaha  for a personalised shopping experience...

So here are a couple of pictures of What I Wear To Work.

Here's a list of the outfit:

Shirt is EVAN-PICONE
Pants are ASOS
Shoes are STEVEN by STEVE MADDEN

Can I just say how in love I am with the dusty blue of the pants and the basket detail of the shoes at a certain whimsy and so does the KEKE NAPEP in the background.....

Tweet at me and instagram me pictures of what you wear to work using #reggandregina #whatiweartowork . can't wait to see them.....

FESTIVAL TO EVERY DAY

Soooo, around the world festival season is over (by festivals I mean music and art festivals like Coachella, Lagos jazz festival etc.). Sad but true. We all love shopping for festivals right; the hats and shorts and temporary tattoos and the jewellery (rings and cuffs and body chains), the music the air of creativity...... Does that have to end?

This post is about working your festival essentials into your every day wardrobe. Here are a couple of pictures and then we'll talk....

Pair a fringe lose tank with a leather skirt and some plimsolls which I teased on Instagram (the plimsolls are Madden Girl by Steve Madden) and then layer three necklaces and an ear cuff. You can also pair these with a pair of really cute court shoes and a structured hand bag....

The next outfit is one of my favourite dresses, the stripes are so cool and it is paired with a festival favourite, kimono long line jackets and with some really cute sandals (sandals are MIA) and the sunnies and the rings are asos . (don't ya just love the car behind me?)

N.B
Nigerians.... when you see a chick taking pictures in the middle of the street she is not looking for a taxi and please do not stare...... hey I love my people.

REVAMP REVAMP I'M BACK

Okay okay, I know I have said I'm back a couple of times but this time I mean it. I was away on Vacay and if I were a normal being I would have posted about my vacation, but I'm not normal as previously established .

Well, I am back and from the title and my tweets you know that Reggie and Regina is getting revamped. The original purpose of Reggie and Regina was to embrace and highlight the complexities and layers of a woman's style and so we are going back to that original purpose and so it going to be awesome . I will try to post more often and keep the posts fresh.

Todays blog post will be about working one piece perhaps a dress or a jacket into two or three more outfits using accessories and of course we will be doing this Reggie and Regina style. Check out my Instagram @ohahanyohe to see my layers.....

Todays blog post will feature two dresses worked into two outfits and one is Reggie and the other is Regina .

The first dress is a navy blue lace dress with a faux pearl peter pan collar, I love that dress. the length is just right above the knee and so its still short but with a sophisticated edge. In the first outfit it was paired with a beaded hair crown to add a bit of jewellery (did I tell you I'm not a huge fan of jewellery; I only do ear cuffs and rings), a dark blue had bag with gold accents and for a pop of colour pink court shoes and those shoes match the bag as they too have a gold bar on the heel (a part of New Look's shoe collection which I looove). So Regina is it not?

In the next outfit the navy lace dress was paired with brown combat boots (yes boots make a reoccurrence..... can't help myself), a gold ear cuff and a backpack that I am obsessed with the brown highlights and the tribal print and then fringe just make that backpack steal-able and it also has gold hardware in the studs...... I'm in love.

The next two outfits have the same base of a wine short dress (also slightly above the knee) and in the first outfit it is paired with a flower hair crown (yes hair crowns are my new addiction) which adds a whimsical element to the look but for some edge a spiky silver ear cuff is added for some jewellery and a clutch purse with a big silver buckle in sky blue just adds that pop of colour... and black heels tie the look together.

In the next outfit the red dress is paired with an oversized leather jacket which has sequins on the top for some pizazz and a hat in black and burgundy make it so rock and roll. A pair of healed booties add some glam and sophistication to the look and I am so in love with slouchy bags add that for that effortless look.....

So that's how you make variety with a basic in your closet......

leave your comments, share, email me pictures of you trying this out, I want to see them.

love ya.............

The 87th Annual Academy Awards (Part 2)

Its raining, its raining and yes it did rain at the Oscars, Sunday night but that did not dampen the spirits of the Oscars with the performances by Lady Gaga, John Legend and Common, Adam Levine and Maroon 5 and The Lonely Island (who knew that Adam Sandberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine was part of the music group the Lonely Island, I didn't and I love their music).

The big question is did Neil Patrick Harris do as great a job as Ellen DeGeneres, probably not but he did do a great job, his opening number Moving Pictures with Anna Kendrick and Jack Black was pretty awesome and his 'seat filler' joke was also quite funny. And his locked briefcase of predictions turned out to be quite correct.

John Legend and Common's performance of Glory(which is an awesome song by the way I think you should get it if you don't ) was amazing and emotional as well as both the speeches when they won best original soundtrack which brought a few of the celebrities to tears like David Oyelowo and Chris Pine.

Lady Gaga's tribute to sound of music was beautiful and so was the ever distinguished Julie Andrews. Everything is Really Awesome as was proven to us by the really awesome and large stage production during The Lonely Island's performance of Everything Is Awesome( soundtrack for the Lego movie).
Adam Levine likes to talk about his female like voice but it totally rocked at his Oscar performance of Lost Stars.

Now to the big winners last night. Didn't I say that Julianne Moore would win for her performance in Still Alice and yes she did take the Oscar home. I also said that Birdman would win best picture over Boyhood and The Theory of Everything, but Eddie Redmayne won the Oscar for best performance for actor in a leading role as Steven Hawking continuing his roll during this award season. The Grand Budapest Hotel was on quite a roll picking up a number of Oscars.

All in all the Oscars were a blast until next year.

The 87th Annual Academy Awards.

So.... Tell me,
Tell you what
About Last Night.

(If you know what movie that line came from, holla!)

Last night were the 87th Annual Academy Awards or as they are popularly known the Oscars. The Oscars began with the Magnificent Red Carpet stretching across the street to the Dolby Theatre. Which brings us to Oscar Fashion...

Lets begin, remember I predicted winter whites and major colour attack and yup I was right. So we will start with the colour attacks.

First the Ladies in Red; starting with Live From the Red Carpet Host Giuliana Rancic in red Mirielle Dagher dress to host the show. Dakota Johnson was also in red, a wonderful mono strap St.Laurent dress the chain tie detail as the strap was totally edgy and her pony tail gave it an effortless look. Adam Levine's Model wife Behati Prinsloo also wore red but in Armani Couture the jewel encrusted dress screamed elegance. Rosamund Pike look tres chic in a red Givenchy Haute Couture, so classy and her curves in that dress... exquisite. One man joined this red trend in a red tux and that is David Oyelowo.

Next are our pink ladies; one of the first people on the red carpet was Anna Kendrick who performed in the opening number, she war coral pink Custom Thakoon. One of her best red carpet looks ever but was not enough for me. Another pink was Gywneth Paltrow I'm sorry the huge origami flower on her shoulder ruined the gown for me. Zoe Saldana in ballet pink Atelier Versace, I could do without the straps it made it to prom-ish.

Other colours were Emma Stone in lemon green Ellie Saab, I loved the look some might say the beading ages her but the fit and the backless dress gave it a youthfulness that only her can bring. Scarlet Johansen in green Atelier Versace and the neckpiece was awesome. Jessica Chastain's navy blue Givenchy Couture dress that really accentuating her curves. Gina Rodriguez in a blue sustainable dress in association with the red carpet green dress foundation. Rita Ora in royal blue Marchesa was stunning.

Our white ladies include: the big winner Julianne Moore in Chanel so glamorous, Kerry Washington in Miu Miu. Lady Gaga in Custom Alaia and the red leather gloves(not convinced about this whole gloves on the red carpet trend). Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford the black straps on the dress were awesome. Chrissy Teigen in white Zuhair Murad, quite similar to Jeniffer Lopez's dress at the Golden Globes without the cape. Giuliana Rancic also joined the white girls in Steven Khalil. Felicity Jones in winter white and grey Alexander McQueen.

Another trend was the champagne, metallic trend: Jeniffer Aniston in Champagne metallic Versace, Nicole Kidman in metallic blush pink champagne which I don't get especially the belt. Jeniffer Lopez also joined in with Ellie Saab.

Black and white was another trend in which the men and women partook; Will. I. Am took risks in black and white. So did Naomi Watts in Armani couture that never walked the runway. Kevin Hart rocked the trend in a White tux with black shirt and bowtie.  Some women went with plain black and some with embellishments. such include: Margot Robbie's St.Laurent dress. The top half was awesome, I loved but I think the dress needed to be tailored a little bit more. Sienna Miller stunned in black Oscar Delarenta.

All in all, despite the rain Oscar fashion hit all the right buttons. Join me for part two of this post for the movie mania and the big winners of last night.
love ya.

The Academy Awards 2015

Okay, yeah I haven't been around in a while but I have a good reason for my absence which is that I was moving house, still am but I couldn't not report on the Oscars.

So its here finally, the BIG DOG of award season is here, After all the snubs in nominations for example Jennifer Anniston for Cake should have been in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category. And the Award season roll for The Theory of Everything(Eddie Redmayne) and Birdman( Michael Keaton) and many others.

The Oscars are tomorrow. So I plan to stay up all night and watch the red carpet and how well Neil Patrick Harris handles hosting the Oscars in the wake of Ellen DeGeneres awesomeness last year.
We will also talk fashion on Monday as well as our reactions to the fashion and the wins at the Oscars.

So predictions. Because BIRDMAN was a better movie than BOYHOOD I think Birdman has a better chance at winning but THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING is an awesome movie, I mean Stephen Hawkins is a legendary person.

( yeah yeah I know I sound like a movie nerd and yes I am a nerd in all sense of the word, book, film, fashion, music nerd and yes there are fashion nerds).

Anyways back to predictions I think that for her role in Still Alice Julianne Moore will win the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The movie which is based on a book written by Lisa Genova has an amazing message of not wanting to lose oneself. Alice is a 50 year old cognitive psychology professor at Harvard who begins to grow forgetful and disoriented until it is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The movie shows how she and her family struggle to hold on to the Alice they know.  (yes I love both the movie and the book). Julianne is on a winning streak this Award season which I think will continue.

Enough movie predictions lets talk fashion. Lots of colour and crystals and winter themed outfits however with New York Fashion Week just ended, trust that you will see a lot of from the runway red carpet dresses.

So until Monday when we breakdown the wins the losses both at the Oscars and on the Red Carpet. Ciao! odabo!

ASOEBI

Okay so it was a long weekend. On Thursday was one event in the wedding weekend of a friend and school mate of mine Ameerah Suleiman now Ameerah Kigbu. The event was a traditional event called the 'kamu'; which is generally an event for the bride and her friends and later on after the bride price had been paid the bridegroom and his friends join the festivities, This was on of the most colourful events of the weekend.

Remember when I told you about the commercialization of the asoebi custom well, there were different fabrics for each day for the friends of the bride and I have proof of how ridiculous it has become, I was part of the girls who were to accompany her as a form of a bridal train and yet the only fabric left that I could get was for the kamu, for the remaining events all the fabrics had been bought, so I had to buy another asoebi. Though it did not detract form my duties its was weird to be the only one on Friday and Saturday without the same asoebi.

I promised to show you pictures so here are seven from the three events I attended.

This is the table setting on the 'Kamu' for the friends of the bride who were to sit surrounding her.

This is the bride and a few of her friends, on Thursday for the 'kamu' ceremony. The one of the left is in the asoebi fabric for that day. (with my phone).

This is me in the asoebi for the kamu.

This is a picture I took with my phone in line with other bridesmaid of the couple on Friday night.

This is me on Friday night.

This is me on Saturday night, the girl beside me is one of the bridesmaids in the asoebi fabric that ran out.

So yeah, that's my asoebi story, what's yours?. tell me in your comments.

ASOEBI

I know all of you are thinking: she's back to her old ways, no posts for a while, then voila. Well I'm sorry and I'll try to do better.

Allow me a little rant. Abuja weather is the most ridiculous ever, just a few weeks ago I was celebrating harmattan well, goodbye to my little party is hot again in ABUJA, no cold nights what so ever, its back to the extreme heat again

Any way to style and fashion, I Have to tell you fashion is a huge part of the Nigerian wedding tradition, asoebi originally a Yoruba word meaning clothes of the family which was worn at a wedding, has now become a nationwide term for fabric that is given to friends of the bride or groom to wear to the wedding.

The asoebi custom has become so popular it has even become commercialized. It got to a point I began to get mildly annoyed at the 'asoebi' custom, which adds extra expense to the guests who have to pay for the fabric at exorbitant prices. So I would wear the colours of the wedding in my own dresses or jumpsuits.

However, the asoebi custom adds a colourfulness to the wedding party that can only be African, the different styles of gele, the different styles that guests made with their Ankara fabric.

I will be attending a wedding starting on Thursday till Saturday and I will be wearing the asoebi for each event of the wedding ceremony and I will show you pictures okay.

love,
creaky

Golden Globes 2014.

Was I right or right? Told you guys. The Fashion on the red carpet was AMAZING!!. The Globes are where its at. Lets talk now about how my predictions turned out.

I predicted Winter whites and Icy blues. I saw one icy blue on Amy Adams in her amazing Versace dress. Winter whites on Emily Blunt in Michael Kors, Ellie Kemper with amazing jewellery embroidery, Anna Faris, Kate Hudson also in a White Versace dress. Salma Hayek was the star of this trend  it in a winter white dress with exquisite embroidery by Alexander McQueen.

I predicted cut outs and crop tops. Kate Hudson's Versace dress had the must amazing cut outs on the side. Kate Mara in a red Miu Miu with cut outs in the back. Taylor Schilling from Orange is the New Black ( love that show) was also rocking the cut out trend in a stunning red dress. The only crop top I saw was on Lorde who paired her black crop top with an over sized suit.

I predicted dark tones as well as colour. Newbie Nina Rodriguez who also won best actress in a TV series, comedy wore a black dress. Ethan Hawke kept pace with the ladies in a grey suit. Amal Clooney on her first red carpet as Mrs Clooney in a Black Dior dress with white gloves so classic. Jen Aniston who was nominated for Cake wore a St Laurent Black dress. Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones in a spectacular black and white dress along with host Tina Fey in a black and white Anthony Baradi dress. Jessica Chastain ina Versace black dress that looked like moltedn gold highlights. Felicity Jones was in a green Dior dress.

For our women in colour Naomi Watts was in a amazing Canary Yellow Gucci dress. Kate Mara in red Miu Miu, Host Amy Poehler in electric blue Stella McCarthy. Allison Williams from Girls in an amazing red Armani dress. Guilianna Rancic in beautiful Lavender dress also killed it on the red carpet,

Kerry Washington went both 1940s glam and colour with her mixture of purple and navy blue ankle grazer dress, the full skirt and off shoulder sleeves made it more Mad Men like, a lot of people didn't like this look but I did.  Julianna Margulies from The Good Wife rocked the 1940s glam in a Juiliana Cozenko dress that was midi length.

Zac Posen ruled like I told you. I mean, Kate Baranski from the good wife in Burgundy Zac Posen dress, Lena Dunham in a red Zac Posen dress, Katherine Heigl in Zac Posen, black figure hugging dress with a scoop neckline.

The trend though that I did not predict was the silver, chainmail, jewellery encrusted trend. Julianne Moore rocked a Givenchy couture dress in silver chainmail and grey feathers beneath. Emma Stone's jumpsuit had a jewel encrusted bodice and black bottoms. Jennifer Lopez in a silver dress with an amazing cape. So Amazing

Sunday 11 January 2015

Hi!!!!, This is a short post, I have to watch the golden globes red carpet and report back to you.

So its award season finally! As important as the awards themselves are, the red carpet fashion are the most important for us. So what trends are we expecting? We will discuss this according to four categories: colour, style,  cut and  length.

In line with the season, there will probably be a lot of winter whites and icy blues. But some of the women will be in dark toned greens, greys and the classic black dress. Some would also go for bright colours like corals and the beautiful shades of pink and purple like lavender and violets.

With the style of dresses we will see a lot  of reoccurring trends, like the crop top and skirts and cut outs (laser cuts or panelled cut outs). We probably will see the full midi skirt and the 1940's Mad Men glam. Zac Posen will definitely make an appearance on the red carpet.

With the cut a lot of figure hugging dresses and full skirt even A-line dresses will show up. I still want to be surprised by the outfit choices of the celebrities.

The midi length will probably be the most worn length on the red carpet this season.

Bye  Lovelies the Golden Globes call.
Creaky.

Friday 9 January 2015

I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND ITS A NEW YEAR.

Okay, so, I know that I haven't posted in a while and I have a plausible reason; I was in my final year in the university and so had a lot on my plate. However, I do promise that posts will more regular this year and if I fail, do with me what you will.

Hope you all had fabulous holidays, well I didn't, I was completing my final year research paper so no fabulousity went on. I do look forward to fantastic year for fashion and personal style.

Around the world, designers released their winter collections and Utilitarian or Military inspired is on everyone's lips, online stores like asos.com are already promoting their military collections ( I know because I have an asos account and I am obsessed with the boots they have on) Teen Vogue is also advocating the military inspired trend.
However, its not winter in Nigeria, its harmattan and so its really hot during the day and cool sometimes cold at night at least where am at (Abuja). So how can we work the military inspired look into our closets while considering our weather. I'm here to help.

If its for a day outfit, without being cheesy and actually wearing camouflage, you can wear a totally rocking forest green sleeveless denim or khaki  cargo jacket with a plain black tank and jeans with awesome boots for a military and for our whimsical girls even a pair of oxfords would be totally cool.

Another way to rock the military inspired look for day in the hot weather are a pair of shorts, Shorts in a dark colour and a nice tank with combat boots in brown or black totally rock. For our tomboys, cargo pants in three quarter lengths and a plain tee give that edgy military feel.

How about for a night out since its so cold, like tonight, and jacket would not only be stylish but practical. Throw on a Shift dress and sneak in the military edge with a nice dark cargo jacket, The collar and the pockets make it so cool and throw on a pair of heels for a touch of sophistication. Do not be afraid to go for colour just because you're wearing a military inspired look with a dreary night and the dry air a nice pop of colour amidst the dark tones in your shoes, accessories, and make p are a welcome sight. N.B: Don't forget though not to go with colour in everything mentioned above i.e. shoes accessories, makeup it will be a bit too much.

Another way to rock this trend for night is wearing a body con dress, midi length in a neutral tone like, black or dark grey and throw on a military inspired jacket kick it up a notch with a dark lip, preferably in forest green.

Jumpsuits, playsuits and dungarees are another totally awesome way to rock this trend.

Do not forget a hat, hats are an essential part of the utilitarian look

N.B: The Utilitarian look is quite practical, isn't it?

Layering is an awesome way to rock the military inspired trend so when you think military inspired layer, layer, layer is the principle. oh and dark and neutral tones.

Hey! I'll rock
this trend and show you guys. cool?

Oh its so good to be back.
Love ya
