The 87th Annual Academy Awards (Part 2)

Its raining, its raining and yes it did rain at the Oscars, Sunday night but that did not dampen the spirits of the Oscars with the performances by Lady Gaga, John Legend and Common, Adam Levine and Maroon 5 and The Lonely Island (who knew that Adam Sandberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine was part of the music group the Lonely Island, I didn't and I love their music).

The big question is did Neil Patrick Harris do as great a job as Ellen DeGeneres, probably not but he did do a great job, his opening number Moving Pictures with Anna Kendrick and Jack Black was pretty awesome and his 'seat filler' joke was also quite funny. And his locked briefcase of predictions turned out to be quite correct.

John Legend and Common's performance of Glory(which is an awesome song by the way I think you should get it if you don't ) was amazing and emotional as well as both the speeches when they won best original soundtrack which brought a few of the celebrities to tears like David Oyelowo and Chris Pine.

Lady Gaga's tribute to sound of music was beautiful and so was the ever distinguished Julie Andrews. Everything is Really Awesome as was proven to us by the really awesome and large stage production during The Lonely Island's performance of Everything Is Awesome( soundtrack for the Lego movie).
Adam Levine likes to talk about his female like voice but it totally rocked at his Oscar performance of Lost Stars.

Now to the big winners last night. Didn't I say that Julianne Moore would win for her performance in Still Alice and yes she did take the Oscar home. I also said that Birdman would win best picture over Boyhood and The Theory of Everything, but Eddie Redmayne won the Oscar for best performance for actor in a leading role as Steven Hawking continuing his roll during this award season. The Grand Budapest Hotel was on quite a roll picking up a number of Oscars.

All in all the Oscars were a blast until next year.

The 87th Annual Academy Awards.

So.... Tell me,
Tell you what
About Last Night.

(If you know what movie that line came from, holla!)

Last night were the 87th Annual Academy Awards or as they are popularly known the Oscars. The Oscars began with the Magnificent Red Carpet stretching across the street to the Dolby Theatre. Which brings us to Oscar Fashion...

Lets begin, remember I predicted winter whites and major colour attack and yup I was right. So we will start with the colour attacks.

First the Ladies in Red; starting with Live From the Red Carpet Host Giuliana Rancic in red Mirielle Dagher dress to host the show. Dakota Johnson was also in red, a wonderful mono strap St.Laurent dress the chain tie detail as the strap was totally edgy and her pony tail gave it an effortless look. Adam Levine's Model wife Behati Prinsloo also wore red but in Armani Couture the jewel encrusted dress screamed elegance. Rosamund Pike look tres chic in a red Givenchy Haute Couture, so classy and her curves in that dress... exquisite. One man joined this red trend in a red tux and that is David Oyelowo.

Next are our pink ladies; one of the first people on the red carpet was Anna Kendrick who performed in the opening number, she war coral pink Custom Thakoon. One of her best red carpet looks ever but was not enough for me. Another pink was Gywneth Paltrow I'm sorry the huge origami flower on her shoulder ruined the gown for me. Zoe Saldana in ballet pink Atelier Versace, I could do without the straps it made it to prom-ish.

Other colours were Emma Stone in lemon green Ellie Saab, I loved the look some might say the beading ages her but the fit and the backless dress gave it a youthfulness that only her can bring. Scarlet Johansen in green Atelier Versace and the neckpiece was awesome. Jessica Chastain's navy blue Givenchy Couture dress that really accentuating her curves. Gina Rodriguez in a blue sustainable dress in association with the red carpet green dress foundation. Rita Ora in royal blue Marchesa was stunning.

Our white ladies include: the big winner Julianne Moore in Chanel so glamorous, Kerry Washington in Miu Miu. Lady Gaga in Custom Alaia and the red leather gloves(not convinced about this whole gloves on the red carpet trend). Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford the black straps on the dress were awesome. Chrissy Teigen in white Zuhair Murad, quite similar to Jeniffer Lopez's dress at the Golden Globes without the cape. Giuliana Rancic also joined the white girls in Steven Khalil. Felicity Jones in winter white and grey Alexander McQueen.

Another trend was the champagne, metallic trend: Jeniffer Aniston in Champagne metallic Versace, Nicole Kidman in metallic blush pink champagne which I don't get especially the belt. Jeniffer Lopez also joined in with Ellie Saab.

Black and white was another trend in which the men and women partook; Will. I. Am took risks in black and white. So did Naomi Watts in Armani couture that never walked the runway. Kevin Hart rocked the trend in a White tux with black shirt and bowtie.  Some women went with plain black and some with embellishments. such include: Margot Robbie's St.Laurent dress. The top half was awesome, I loved but I think the dress needed to be tailored a little bit more. Sienna Miller stunned in black Oscar Delarenta.

All in all, despite the rain Oscar fashion hit all the right buttons. Join me for part two of this post for the movie mania and the big winners of last night.
love ya.

The Academy Awards 2015

Okay, yeah I haven't been around in a while but I have a good reason for my absence which is that I was moving house, still am but I couldn't not report on the Oscars.

So its here finally, the BIG DOG of award season is here, After all the snubs in nominations for example Jennifer Anniston for Cake should have been in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category. And the Award season roll for The Theory of Everything(Eddie Redmayne) and Birdman( Michael Keaton) and many others.

The Oscars are tomorrow. So I plan to stay up all night and watch the red carpet and how well Neil Patrick Harris handles hosting the Oscars in the wake of Ellen DeGeneres awesomeness last year.
We will also talk fashion on Monday as well as our reactions to the fashion and the wins at the Oscars.

So predictions. Because BIRDMAN was a better movie than BOYHOOD I think Birdman has a better chance at winning but THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING is an awesome movie, I mean Stephen Hawkins is a legendary person.

( yeah yeah I know I sound like a movie nerd and yes I am a nerd in all sense of the word, book, film, fashion, music nerd and yes there are fashion nerds).

Anyways back to predictions I think that for her role in Still Alice Julianne Moore will win the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The movie which is based on a book written by Lisa Genova has an amazing message of not wanting to lose oneself. Alice is a 50 year old cognitive psychology professor at Harvard who begins to grow forgetful and disoriented until it is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The movie shows how she and her family struggle to hold on to the Alice they know.  (yes I love both the movie and the book). Julianne is on a winning streak this Award season which I think will continue.

Enough movie predictions lets talk fashion. Lots of colour and crystals and winter themed outfits however with New York Fashion Week just ended, trust that you will see a lot of from the runway red carpet dresses.

So until Monday when we breakdown the wins the losses both at the Oscars and on the Red Carpet. Ciao! odabo!

ASOEBI

Okay so it was a long weekend. On Thursday was one event in the wedding weekend of a friend and school mate of mine Ameerah Suleiman now Ameerah Kigbu. The event was a traditional event called the 'kamu'; which is generally an event for the bride and her friends and later on after the bride price had been paid the bridegroom and his friends join the festivities, This was on of the most colourful events of the weekend.

Remember when I told you about the commercialization of the asoebi custom well, there were different fabrics for each day for the friends of the bride and I have proof of how ridiculous it has become, I was part of the girls who were to accompany her as a form of a bridal train and yet the only fabric left that I could get was for the kamu, for the remaining events all the fabrics had been bought, so I had to buy another asoebi. Though it did not detract form my duties its was weird to be the only one on Friday and Saturday without the same asoebi.

I promised to show you pictures so here are seven from the three events I attended.

This is the table setting on the 'Kamu' for the friends of the bride who were to sit surrounding her.

This is the bride and a few of her friends, on Thursday for the 'kamu' ceremony. The one of the left is in the asoebi fabric for that day. (with my phone).

This is me in the asoebi for the kamu.

This is a picture I took with my phone in line with other bridesmaid of the couple on Friday night.

This is me on Friday night.

This is me on Saturday night, the girl beside me is one of the bridesmaids in the asoebi fabric that ran out.

So yeah, that's my asoebi story, what's yours?. tell me in your comments.
