I know all of you are thinking: she's back to her old ways, no posts for a while, then voila. Well I'm sorry and I'll try to do better.
Allow me a little rant. Abuja weather is the most ridiculous ever, just a few weeks ago I was celebrating harmattan well, goodbye to my little party is hot again in ABUJA, no cold nights what so ever, its back to the extreme heat again
Any way to style and fashion, I Have to tell you fashion is a huge part of the Nigerian wedding tradition, asoebi originally a Yoruba word meaning clothes of the family which was worn at a wedding, has now become a nationwide term for fabric that is given to friends of the bride or groom to wear to the wedding.
The asoebi custom has become so popular it has even become commercialized. It got to a point I began to get mildly annoyed at the 'asoebi' custom, which adds extra expense to the guests who have to pay for the fabric at exorbitant prices. So I would wear the colours of the wedding in my own dresses or jumpsuits.
However, the asoebi custom adds a colourfulness to the wedding party that can only be African, the different styles of gele, the different styles that guests made with their Ankara fabric.
I will be attending a wedding starting on Thursday till Saturday and I will be wearing the asoebi for each event of the wedding ceremony and I will show you pictures okay.
love,
creaky
xoxo
